Château de Grand Pré is a 6 hectare family run estate located in the communes of Fleurie in the Beaujolais Crus winemaking area of the Auvergne Rhône Alpes. They also own a further 2 hectares south in the village of Morgon.
Today, the winery is run by Guy Zordan with his wife Annick, Christine with her husband Claude and their grandson, Romain. The vineyards have been certified organic since 2012.
Every year the harvest is carefully hand picked before going through carbonic maceration for 10 - 15 days. No sulphites are added during the vinification process and minimal sulphur is added at bottling. Fermentation is carried out using indigenous yeast in temperature controlled tanks. The wine is then aged for several months in small 650 litre 3-5 year old barrels.
This is a very elegant wine with a floral bouquet of violets and roses, leading through to a palate of wild strawberries combined with a hint of liquorice and spice.
Goes well with grilled meats, poultry, charcuterie and cheeses
Made from 100% Gamay
